THE 2012 CATWALK FOR A CURE - ONE FOR THE BOOKS
ASCF Board Members and Emeritus Directors would like to thank all those who supported the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation and its mission at the 2012 Catwalk for a Cure. For those who supported us at the event and those who continue to do so in big ways and in small contributions throughout the year, we express our most sincere gratitude.
The 2012 live auction was spectacular with packages donated by the Brass family, Hoffer family, Hotel ZaZa, Allie & Jay Fields, and Alexandra Knight raising records funds for the ASCF mission, but a highlight of the auction was when sarcoma survivors David Solomon, Amanda Hawes, Shelby Robin and Brad Booth strutted their stuff on the catwalk and reminded guests who we were celebrating. Steve Summers & Glen Gonzales (winners of the beautiful Nini Jewels ring) continued the generous spirit when they donated the Nini stunner back to ASCF for auction where it found a good home with long time ASCF supporters Greggory & Pat Burk. Not only did Saks Fifth Avenue dazzle with an amazing Yigal Azrouel show, but Houston General Manager Terry Zmyslo surprised all of us by announcing an additional $5,000 direct contribution to ASCF.
The evening provided us with a wonderful opportunity to recognize 2012 Commitment to the Cause award recipient Susan Franz for her contributions to our housing program but at the end of the night, it was survivor honoree Alexandra Knight whose poise, courage and inspirational story moved the entire room.
OCTOBER 10th LAUNCH PARTY AT SAKS FIFTH AVENUE FEATURING NINI JEWELS
The Catwalk Launch Party was held October 10th at Saks Fifth Avenue Houston. ASCF friends came out to help us celebrate with 2012 Celebration of Survivorship Honoree Alexandra Knight and Catwalk for a Cure chairs Laura Arnold, Kelli Blanton, and Jennifer Segal. Nini Hale was also there in person to present her stunning Nini Jewels collection, including the one-of-a-kind pearl, diamond and multi-sapphire ring donated to the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation which was later auctioned at the Catwalk for a Cure gala in November.
ASCF & THE LAURA AND JOHN ARNOLD FOUNDATION'S GIVING LIBRARY
The Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation is honored to have been invited to participate in the Laura and John Arnold Foundation’s Giving Library launch. It is our hope the project will not only direct additional funds to support the ASCF mission but that the exposure will generate a greater awareness of the needs of families affected by sarcoma cancers. We are grateful to Laura and John Arnold for their vision to inspire and help others make informed and impactful decisions in philanthropic giving and we look forward to continued participation in this innovative project.
