Housing Program FAQs
What type of housing does ASCF offer?
Short-term, temporary. Most stays are between a few days to a few weeks. ASCF’s housing program is not intended for stays exceeding 4 weeks.
Where are the apartments?
ASCF apartments are located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center at the Equinox located at 2950 Old Spanish Trail.
How many bedrooms are available?
In order to accommodate as many families as possible, ASCF offers one bedroom units however each is equipped with a sofa that can be converted into a queen-sized bed. Some units may also have inflatable air mattresses that may be used.
What forms do we need to complete to be considered for the program?
ALL forms must be completed and mailed to the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation before consideration.
What is the cost?
All housing is provided free-of-charge as a result of the generosity of ASCF donors however damage to units or property may result in fines and/or future inability to participate in program services. Donations made by check may be mailed to 2726 Bissonnet Street, Suite 240-314, Houston, Texas 77005. Arrangements to donate by credit card (MC, VISA, and AMEX) may be made by contacting ASCF at 713.256.4250.
How do we apply?
Simply download the following forms from the Housing Program tab of our website and return them to ASCF via email or mail.
How far in advance may we apply for housing?
Because treatment is unpredictable, ASCF makes every attempt to be as flexible as possible with the families currently residing in our units. As a result, we are NOT able to confirm accommodations any sooner than one week prior to a family’s anticipated arrival date. Applications may be submitted in advance of this time and dates may be “penciled into the calendar.” Families are encouraged in such instances to check back with ASCF one week prior to arrival date for a status update.
What do we need to bring?
All units are provided with towels, kitchenware, cooking utensils and other house wares. Families should plan to provide their own food, beverage, toiletries, cleaning products and other disposable items. All units are equipped with a full-sized washer and dryer and dishwasher. For a complete list of items included in each unit, please review the Move-in Checklist from the Housing Program tab of our website.
Where do we put our trash we accumulate in the apartment?
We want to be sure to keep the community clean and sanitary, so any accumulated trash from inside your apartment must be appropriately bagged and placed inside the trash chute or in the dumpster by the loading zone. It is not acceptable to place the trash in the hallways, in the stairwells or in any location not designated as a trash chute or dumpster.
What is available in terms of parking and shuttle service to medical center area hospitals?
Covered parking is available on the property at no charge. Shuttle service is also available to and from the medical center. A shuttle service schedule should be requested from the property’s leasing office upon arrival.
Where do we pick up the keys to the unit?
Once approved, keys to units may be retrieved during normal business hours at the property's Leasing Office. Please note that holiday hours may vary.
